The Sigma Phi Epsilon North Dakota Alpha chapter, yet small, is a very prestigious and tight-knit fraternity. We strive to follow our fundamental principles in our undergrad venture of Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love. The current ND Alpha chapter relies on a close brotherhood to be able to thrive in our university, community, and personal lives together as brothers. We have accomplished a lot and are pushing ourselves to do more and become a better fraternity overall. To demonstrate our accomplishments and goals, we have done the following:
- Our chapter has volunteered at many events this year and we have members volunteering for different organizations. Our chapter has over 312 volunteer hours this school year with plans to add more throughout the semester.
- Chapter Awards:
- All men’s GPA – SigEp has received the all men’s GPA on campus since they started on this campus and we continue to achieve this.
- Outstanding chapter – we have received this award for at least the last three years.
- Top GPA for a fraternity – We have had the top GPA on campus amongst fraternities for 15 of the past 16 years.
- We have recently revamped our philanthropy methods in order to raise more money for certain charities such as Big Bro, Big Sis of America. We changed our philanthropy events from sporting events to feeding events in which we have had outstanding success compared to previous years.
- The chapter offers learning opportunities for all of the members as we strive for self-betterment and pushing our members into a highly competitive work environment. This program, as stated by nationals, is a “SigEp Learning Community,” which,” is a program for high-performing chapters to establish and execute a safe learning environment for members and university stakeholders defined by SigEp’s core principles”
- Currently the chapter offers an OSHA certification course that is held every Wednesday at our chapter facility. This course is essential to our members as many jobs require this kind of training.
- Our national fraternity has set the bar high for fraternities as a whole as we move towards substance-free facilities, which allows our members to focus more on their education and self-betterment. Along with this, we are removing the stereotype behind the typical fraternity men. Another way we are different from most is that we do not allow hazing. Once a potential new member has accepted a bid, we allow him to reap all benefits of membership through our chapter.
